We are excited to offer Interactive Vaulting with our Gypsy Vanner, “Ace” and instructor, Naomi George!
Interactive Vaulting is a circular classroom in which participants perform movements on and around a horse. Fun games and activities teach respect for the horse, encourage social interaction and develop skills such:
problem solving – communication – confidence – trust – balance – flexibility – body awareness
The gymnastic type positions are practiced on a stationary barrel before attempted on the moving horse to ensure the participant’s safety and horse’s well-being. The movements can be very simple such as sitting without holding onto the surcingle or more elaborate positions such as kneeling. Participants increase their skills at their own pace while still in a group lesson.
Individuals with cognitive, emotional and physical disabilities can benefit from Interactive Vaulting, however participants must be able to move independently without assistive devices due to the nature of the activities.
